Coursebooks
Learning to KRAC (Keep-Reject-Add-Change) textbooks!
Most participants will go on to teach at language schools that have textbooks. For this reason, it can be very useful for them to learn how analyze and use course book materials. One way to approach this is to choose units from different books for Ps to analyze/use/adapt. This helps them 'use the book' instead of the 'book using them.' Trainers can, of course, let Ps choose authentic materials or choose different units, etc, but by assigning units that fit the module, trainers can help Ps spend more time thinking about how to teach rather than wasting lots of time thinking about what to teach. Trainers can choose units from whatever course books seem most appropriate. Below is a list of some popular titles. Sites can often get inspection copies directly from the publishers by contacting their local rep. Do you have titles you like to add to the list? Contact Josh with the info.
